Since the discovery of the Void Matter transmission, a polarity has occurred within the human population where both sides are now searching for the mysterious "Void Matter" particle, but with completely opposite intentions. It is even suspected that part of the Void Matter program includes the calculation that species evolved from their genetic manipulation will war among themselves and unwittingly accelerate the discovery of the particle, causing the destruction of possibly major portions of the galaxy. One side hopes to discover the particle in order to facilitate its deployment while the other hopes to discover only enough to help prevent it being used.

Part of the plans of the "pro existence" forces has been the creation of a secret research base on Jupiter's moon, Europa. A team of telepathic humans and genetically modified dolphins have been installed below the ice surface of Europa, within it's hidden ocean. This has been called "Project ADaM" (Anti Dark Matter). Project ADaM is using human and dolphin telepathy and psychics to create a sensory network capable of sensing the pending presence of the Void Matter particle. It is hoped that this information could be used to interfere with the particles manifestation before it can be deployed.

A sub-aquatic lab has been built to house human central "host" nodes which connect to the dolphin psychic frequency. This inter-species connection is believed to allow an expanded detection range due to the differences in telepathic coverage of each species. As they evolved from the same root gene, their psychic abilities evolved differently. With dolphins, their lack of motor manipulation skills caused their telepathic range to increase dramatically in comparison to humans. Combining the two offers the best chance of detecting the particle before it can cause any damage.

Europa was chosen as an ideal location to set up the base as it provided a hidden liquid water environment for the dolphins as well as access to extremely cold temperatures needed for some of the equipment involved in supporting the inter-species psychic links. The main base could be fixed into the underside of the moon's ice crust while the liquid sub layer provided a habitat adaptable to the modified dolphins. Europa also offered some primitive life of its own which was suitable to sustain both human and dolphin inhabitants of the base.

At this time, the Project ADaM team is working to perfect their psychic sensory network and extend its temporal range. The more it can be extended into the future, the better likelihood that the particle can be detected and thwarted before it is deployed. Because of the massive impact that would occur by deploying the particle it is theorized that it may have a significant enough temporal "ripple" to be detected by the network and allow enough time to act. The entire galaxy may have its fate rest on the success of this mission.
